Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has said he met with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe.
The meeting, according to the new FKF boss, took place in Marrakech, Morocco, on the sidelines of the CAF yearly awards ceremony.
The meeting’s agenda, according to Mohammed, was around the upcoming CHAN and Africa Cup of Nations editions. Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania were elected to host the 2025 CHAN editions and the 2027 AFCON finals.
“Honoured to meet CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe during the CAF Exco Meeting in Marrakech recently.
“We discussed Kenya’s preparations to co-host CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027, along with other critical development initiatives to elevate Kenyan football,” Mohammed said in a statement on X on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
At the same venue, Mohammed met with FIFA boss Gianni Infantino, where they discussed how to move Kenyan football forward.
“Met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Marrakech.
“We discussed governance, infrastructure, and growing Kenyan football, including women’s football. FIFA and FKF are planning a technical centre in Kenya, a key step in strengthening the game. Excited about what lies ahead!” Mohammed said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed’s meeting with Motsepe on CHAN and AFCON comes at a time when the country is unlikely to host the former competition due to a lack of ready and approved stadiums.
With the country struggling to have the stadiums ready, Rwanda could host CHAN alongside Tanzania and Uganda.
