Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

Sunday blackout

Kenya Power on Saturday announced a planned power interruption for Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Counties that will be affected include Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Trans Nzoia, Siaya, Kakamega and Embu.

In Nairobi, the planned interruptions will affect part of Kangundo Road, part of Buruburu, Huruma, and Pioneer Estate.

Other areas that will be affected include; Moi Air Basem Moi Forces Academy, Juja Road, Huruma, Kariobangi North, Kariobangi South, Light Industries, Dandora Phase 1, Civil Servants, Pioneer Estate, Buruburu Police, East Capital apartments and adjacent customers.

The interruptions in Kiambu county will affect areas such as Ndenderu, Rueno, Shell, Njanja farm, Cura, Nyathuna, Rukubi, Uthiru Gichagi, Kanyariri, Karura Kagongo Karura Ka Murimo, St. Tilto, Rumenye, AKarura Kanyungu, Wangunyu Girls, Stage Nane, Kessei Homes, Epic, Mwimuto, Wangige, Kingeero, Ndumbuini, Gachia, Gitaru, and adjacent customers.

The mentioned areas will be affected from 8 am to 5 pm.

Part of Machakos county that will be affected from 9 am to 5 pm include; Kiungari Road, Airport Road, Community Road, Katani Road, Green Tank, Notre Dame, White House and adjacent customers.

In Trans Nzoia, the interruptions will affect Wamuiri Centre, St Joseph’s Girls’ High School, Kitale, Wamuini Centre, Koikoi, Lukhomme, Nyasiland, Western seed company, Mengo, Kapretwa, Laini Moja, Endebes Market, Kiungani, Birunda, Toll market, Baraton, Sister Fridah Hospital, Transmatt, County gov’t offices, Gatua centre, Annez prison, Bidii centre, Kitale club, Alakara hotel, Ambwere plaza, Milimani Shimo la Tewa, Kabomboi market, Laini Moja, Kisawai, Nakami farm, Saboti, Muroki, Elgon T factory, Panacal International, Kinyoro, Machewa, Makhele, Wamuiri centre, Kitale KCC, District Hospital, Tum’s factory, Kiminini, Big tree, Ndalu, Brigidia, Tangaren, HSU Kirita, Matisi, Mitume, Seed drier, Mbegu plaza, GSU Kalongolo, Cheranganyi hospital, Tuwani, Jovenah and adjacent customers.

The mentioned areas will be affected from 9 am to 12 pm.

Siaya areas that will be affected by the scheduled blackout from 9 am to 5 pm include; Esalwa, Rabuor market, Ahono, Sagam Community Hospital, Sinaga Girls, Lihanda, Gongo H/C, Mindhine, Jina and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power said the interruptions in Kakamega will affect Kakamega town Masinder Muliro University, Kakamega County Hospital, Musali, Shinyalu, Lubao, Lurambi, Mutaha and adjacent customers from 10 am to 4.30 pm.

In Embu, the blackout will affect Tembo Hotel, Maguna supermarket (Upper), Regional Commissioner’s office and residence, Emco, Mama Ngina Street and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

Kalonzo to visit Kenyatta market

Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will attend a church service on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Nairobi Baptist Church Ngong Road starting at 10:00 am.

After the service, we will have lunch (nyama choma) at Kenyatta Market.

KPL

Four matches will be played in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Sofapaka will host Muhoroni Youth in the first duel of the day at 1:00 pm while Kariobangi Sharks will play against Talanta at 3:00 pm.

Kakamega Homeboyz will play against AFC Leopards at 3:00 pm while KCB host Tusker FC an hour later at 4:00 pm.

EPL

Two matches will be played in the English Premier League (EPL) on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

In the first match scheduled at 5:00 pm, Sheffield United will host Brighton before Luton Town play against Manchester United at 7:30 pm.
