DCI reveals details of exclusive meeting with FBI Director with only selected detectives

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Ibrahim Amin has disclosed details of his closed-door meeting with Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Christopher Asher Wray at our Mazingira Complex.

According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, only selected Heads of Directorates were allowed in the meeting.

During the meeting, Director Wray reaffirmed FBI’s commitment to cooperation with stakeholders in adopting modern-day pragmatic measures pertinent to disrupting global threats.

Wray who was making his maiden tour into the country since his appointment in 2017 lauded the existing partnerships with the country’s topmost criminal investigation agency. The FBI Director also highlighted key successes in counterterrorism and transnational organized crimes.

The two criminal investigation agency bosses underscored the need for further fostering relations to help get rid of organised crimes, especially in Kenya.

Meanwhile, DCI Amin conveyed his appreciation to his guest and the US government, for the immense support the Directorate has continued to receive through sponsored trainings locally and abroad.

DCI Amin also appreciated the FBI Director for several donation of state-of-the-art equipment and enhanced information-sharing networks.

“Amin noted that as a result, the DCI had managed to greatly suppress highly complex criminal activities, built its capacity and earned the confidence of Kenyans in its capacity to combat all manner of crime,” the statement shared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations read in part.

Conclusively, they agreed to strengthen bilateral security and investigative cooperation.

FBI with DPP

The FBI Director Wray also pledged to enhance partnership and collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call to the Director of Public Prosecution Renson Ingonga’s office on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the FBI boss appreciated the ODPP’s role in the delivery of justice and offered support in ensuring that mandate is delivered.

“I appreciate what an important role prosecutors play in countering threats and I look forward to continue enhancing our partnerships and cooperation with the ODPP,” the FBI Director stated.

The DPP welcomed the delegation, led by FBI Director Christopher Wray, and thanked the team for the consistent commitment towards enhancing partnership and collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
