Farouk Kibet tells Malava voters to reject Khalwale in 2027 for non-performance
By Mabonga Makhanu, November 2, 2025President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, has called upon Malava residents to reject Senator Boni Khalwale in 2027, saying he has nothing to show for the two years he has been in office as the county’s senator.
While braving the morning cold to help popularise the candidature of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa in Malava on Sunday, November 2, 2025, he urged Malava voters and the entire Kakamega County to reject their senator, saying he has done nothing meaningful for his people in Malava despite being voted for by the locals.
Khalwale, whose core mandate is to oversee the county government, was blamed by Farouk for failing to deliver a single development project in Malava.

“Boni Khalwale hata hajaweza kujenga choo hapa, na mlimpigia kura. Ataenda nyumbani ama ataenda nyumbani? Watu wa Malava walimpigia kura, yeye hata hajaleta anything in Malava. Hebu nionyeshe chenye ameleta. Aende asiende?”
He also accused Khalwale of aligning himself with the opposition despite being elected on the UDA ticket and of helping push Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako instead of helping the government deliver on its agenda.

Farouk urged locals not to consider Khalwale for any seat in 2027.
This comes at a time when Khalwale defied his party, UDA, to support Seth Panyako, a move that has landed him in trouble with the party, which is now calling for disciplinary action against him for going against the party’s stand.
Khalwale’s defiance
Khalwale defended his actions, saying it was time for the community to be respected and not allow people from other regions to impose leaders on them, but instead allow them to choose for themselves.

Khalwale, who is harbouring gubernatorial ambitions in Kakamega, recently announced that he will not use UDA as his political vehicle since the President, who is the party leader, has chosen to support incumbent Governor Fernandes Barasa.
This led him to launch his own party, the United Patriotic Movement (UPM).
Malava by-election
With battle lines being drawn in the Malava by-election campaigns, it has now become a two-horse race, with Seth Panyako set to face his worthy opponent, former Kabras East MCA David Ndakwa, in the November 27 by-election.
In recent days, Farouk Kibet has been pitching camps in the constituency to popularise David Ndakwa, making early morning visits to ensure that his party’s candidate carries the day on November 27.
