The family of a 32-year-old policeman believed to have committed suicide by blowing off his head using a G3 rifle at his house in Makupa Police Lines, Mombasa county has ruled out foul play.

Constable Jacob Masha, who was attached to Makupa Police Station, reportedly shot himself on Sunday night.

His body was found lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound and a larger bullet exit wound through the forehead. The gun was also found next to the body.

The deceased’s wife Immaculate Waziri described her husband Jacob Masha as a man of few words and minimal interactions.

“He was a quiet man, who barely spoke and at times I preferred not to engage him since I had come to learn that this was his character though we had no troubled life,” said Masha.

Seemed okay

Masha said she spoke to her husband on Sunday, with the latter requesting to speak to two of his children who were at home at the time.

“When he called he seemed okay and I suspected nothing, he even requested to speak to his two children, among them a 16-year-old-boy who had requested for some money to enable him return to school today. He immediately sent the money,” she said.
