A minor whose body was exhumed from suspected mass graves in the expansive Shakahola ranch in Kilifi county died due to head injuries inflicted upon him, a postmortem examination revealed yesterday.

Another autopsy also revealed that another minor whose body was also recovered from the ranch owned by controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie succumbed to complications arising from kidney and heart diseases.

Government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed that they had already conducted autopsies on a total of 36 bodies as of yesterday.

Out of these, 17 were men while the rest were female.

Oduor however noted that a large number of the bodies exhumed from the expansive ranch had decomposed to an extent their gender and ages could not be ascertained.

He further confirmed that 22 DNA samples had been collected from 22 families to determine their relationship with some of the victims who are yet to be identified.

Oduor further confirmed that all bodies attended to yesterday had all their body parts intact.

While giving the daily briefing at the Malindi sub county Hospital Mortuary where the exercise is being carried out, Oduor said the exercise was going on smoothly.

He added that majority of the victims were children and women.
