A new political movement

Owalo’s formal entry into the presidential race came months after leaving President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The party, whose slogan is “Ustawi kwa Wote“, also unveiled its headquarters, Ustawi House, which will serve as the party’s national office and secretariat.

Owalo said the People’s Prosperity Party is founded on the principle of ensuring prosperity reaches every Kenyan, with the slogan “Ustawi kwa Wote” reflecting its commitment to inclusive economic growth and shared national development.

He said the party seeks to provide an alternative leadership focused on creating jobs, lowering the cost of living, empowering young people and promoting accountable governance.

The unveiling of Ustawi House was presented as the beginning of the party’s nationwide operations as it prepares to recruit members and establish structures across the country ahead of the 2027 elections.

Break from UDA

The launch comes months after Owalo severed ties with the ruling UDA party, signalling his decision to pursue an independent political path.

His entry into the race adds to the growing list of leaders positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential contest as political realignments continue to gather pace.

With the official launch of the People’s Prosperity Party and the declaration of his presidential bid, Owalo has now set the stage for a national campaign under the banner of “Ustawi kwa Wote”, seeking to persuade Kenyans that his new political outfit offers a fresh vision for the country’s future.
