Dagorreti North Member of Parliament (MP) Beatrice Elachi has called on President William Ruto's administration to listen to the Gen Z protesters against the 2024 Finance Bill.

Speaking during a tour of developmental projects in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, Elachi stated that the government should consider the needs of the youthful protesters to quell the frustrations and anger.

The MP went on to state that despite the protests being centred on the controversial bill, other matters swept under the rug are the cause of the frustrations aired by the youths in the country.

She subsequently called on the government to sit one-on-one and listen to the wants of the people to avert problems that may jeopardise the country's growth and development.

"Tusijidanganye, wanatuambia kitu na wanakuja..na hawa president wao ako kwa mtandao kwa simu inaitwa iPhone, the slogan of the phone is think different. So they are thinking differently as they tell us what they are seeing.

Elachi further called on parents and guardians to engage their children, to identify and keep up with the issues affecting them and resolve them.

At the same time, the lawmaker took a swipe at politicians and leaders involved in corruption saying they were the cause of the frustrations and anger witnessed in the country over the past few days.

"So we cannot ignore as parents, each parents hapa zungumza na mtoto kidogo, maana siku hizi hawazungumzi, wanazungumza na mtandao wao, kuna mzungu kule anamwambia vingine na yeye anshangaa mbona huku hakuendelea hivo," she said.

"Hii nchi itaenda tukiangalia hivi. Communication iwe sawa, watu waelewe chenye inasemwa maana hio ndio inatulet down inafanya nchi inachemka.
