CS Duale’s younger brother lands state job

Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has appointed Abdi Bare Duale as the new Kenya Railway Board chair.
Bare Duale, who is Defence CS Aden Duale’s younger brother takes on the position immediately and will serve in the position for three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(a) of the Kenya Railway Corporation Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport appoints Abdi Bare Duale to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation, for three (3) years, with effect from February 9, 2024,” the notice read in part.
Bare brings on board years of experience having served as an official in the previous regime led by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and the current regime.
In the previous regime, Bare served at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) board for a year following his appointment by then-Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Henry Rotich.
His appointment was later revoked by retired President Kenyatta before he was appointed as the board chair Kenya Leather Development Council.
Until his recent appointment by CS Murkomen, Bare recently served as the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) board chair for one year before his appointment was revoked by President William Ruto.
His appointment as KETRACO chair was to run for three years.
After revoking his appointment, Ruto appointed Muhumed Abdi Mohamed to serve in the capacity for three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 3 (a) of the Articles of Association of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited, and section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoints Muhumed Abdi Mohamed to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited, for three (3) years, with effect from February 9, 2024. The appointment of Abdi Bare Duale is revoked,” the gazette notice read in parts.
