Duale moves to quell KDF, squatters land dispute
The government has moved to end the stalemate between squatters and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) over the ownership of a prime land in Uasin Gishu county.
Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale (pictured) yesterday chaired a consultative meeting with leaders from the Uasin Gishu county and officials from the National Land Commission (NLC) in a bid to address the ongoing dispute concerning the Eldoret military land.
Duale said the ministry remains committed to settling the dispute with legitimate land owners and at the same time rid out land grabbers and imposters occupying military land on the basis of fake title deeds.
“We believe in the spirit of cohesion and we shall endeavour to be a good neighbour to all communities hosting military establishments since they play a critical role in our security architecture,” said Duale.
According to Duale, the Ministry of Defence is dedicated to maintaining positive relationships with the communities hosting military establishments, recognising their vital role in the security infrastructure.
“We have received directives from President William Ruto, to expedite the resolution of this issue. We are pleased with the progress we have made in addressing this stalemate,” said Duale.
