DPP Haji gets new order in Sonko graft case
The Director of Public prosecutions Noordin Haji was yesterday ordered to supply all documents and exhibits, in the Sh357 million corruption case against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his co-accused within two weeks.
Milimani Anti-Corruption Court chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti made the directive after defence lawyers accused the DPP of delaying the case by failing to supply them with all the material they intend to rely on during trial.
Ogoti also ordered that all the disclosures in the case be captured in an inventory signed by both the defence and prosecution and filed in court before the pre-trial on February 25.
The magistrate said delay in supplying the evidence material posed a challenge on the hearing of the cases.
The DPP, through State Counsel James Kihara, said they had not filed all the documents because of a case before High Court where they have challenged the issue on disclosure. The matter is pending before Justice John Onyiego.
