The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has spoken out for the first time in a case involving Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai’s son, who is accused of careless driving that led to the death of two people along Lang’ata Road.

His reactions come after the family of the victims raised concern about the manner in which the police were handling the case.

In his sentiments while in Garissa County, Haji said that he will do all it takes to ensure that the affected families get timely justice.

“I will also check my desk. If the file on the case is ready, we will proceed and prosecute. As we said, justice will be served to every Kenyan,” Haji said.

This raised concerns on why the file had not been tabled in his office, yet the accident took place on Thursday last week.

Over the weekend, the families of the victims raised concerns saying that there were plans to cover up the deadly accident with the aim of protecting David Mwendwa who is son to IG Mutyambai.

On Sunday, the Nairobi Traffic Police Boss Joshua Omukata said that they will take action as per the law.

Omukata said that the suspect will be charged with causing death by dangerous driving along the busy Lang’ata Road.
