DP Ruto unveils four-point agenda as he fires at opponents

By , January 13, 2022

Deputy President  William Ruto has warned his opponents to brace for an epic political contest in the August polls even as he announced a four-point agenda on why he is the preferred presidential candidate.

In his latest political campaigns in Nairobi yesterday, the DP charged that his administration will inject Sh100 billion to enable the construction of affordable housing, agro-processing, value addition and manufacturing sectors to create more jobs.

He also fired at his political nemesis, saying he will not be cowed into submission, threats and blackmail.

“We will not buy threats and tribalism. What we need is the agenda for the millions of ordinary Kenyans who do not have jobs,” he charged.

He also pledged to ensure the more four million youths who are out of school get either employment or business to run.

Creates space

“Our opponents are interested in constitutional amendments to create space for politicians and add them more power.

We want to tell them that we shall first change the lives of these people before we create more positions for politicians,” he said.

Yesterday while snaking through the populous Eastleigh, Mathare, Huruma, Kariobangi and Kayole estates, Ruto promised that his administration will further inject Sh50 billion to enable Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) access soft loans to uplift their businesses.

“We shall create a law to protect SMEs, hawkers and ensure we give them funds so that they do not borrow money from shylocks and other digital money platforms to fund their businesses,” he said.

New markets

Ruto said should he be elected president in the August 9 polls, his government would construct 20 new markets within Nairobi to enable traders and hawkers have decent places to transact their businesses.

He said his administration would increase water dams to cater for the ever-increasing needs of the precious commodity within Nairobi.

DP said the Jubilee government has initiated the Northern Water Tunnel, Ruiru II and Karimino Dam to increase volumes of water for city residents.

He was accompanied by United Democratic Alliance Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Aden Duale (Garissa Township), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

The DP exuded confidence in forming the next government. In his characteristic bravado, Ruto charged that he has been the Deputy President and that he will increase the number of technical training institutions.

He further reiterated that his administration will ensure all Kenyans get free medical care by ensuring every citizen is enrolled in the National Health Insurance Fund.

“My government will pay for medical care to all the citizens whether you have money or not,”  said Ruto.
