Dorcas Rigathi delivers first sermon as reverend in Mbeere North
By Luke Oluoch, November 16, 2025Rigathi Gachagua’s spouse, Dorcas Rigathi, made her first sermon as a reverend as her husband and opposition politicians joined the A.C.K. Diocese of Mbeere for Sunday Service on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The Rigathis joined the congregants for the service a day after she was ordained as Reverend at the family’s Wamunyoro Farm in Nyeri County, Kenya, in a ceremony presided over by Bishop David Mureithi.
“Hii ndio ya mahubiri ya kwanza napeana nikiwa reverend. Mungu ni mkuu na anapenda kanisa ya ACK. Nimebarikiwa sana kuwa kwa madhabahu haya,” she stated, revealing her elation to deliver her first sermon.

Manyatta MP Gitonga Muknji and former Embu senator Lenny Kivuti, and a host of regional MCAs and aspirants also graced the event.
Sermon on love
In her sermon delivered with a blend of Kiswahili and local Kikuyu dialects, Dorcas spoke about the virtue of love as a perfect bond of union.
She emphasised the importance of displaying unhypocritical behaviour, which permeates all aspects of a human’s life and interactions.
“Love is everything. Kama familia yako haina upendo, hata mbinguni hamutaingia. In today’s world, upeondo hakuma. Hata watu wakiingia kwenye ndoa, kitu cha kwanza ni kuangalia kama mali iko.
“Wasichana wa siku izi hawataki kufanya kazi. Ndoa zinaanguka kwa sababu upendo ndio msingi ambao unafaa kuanzia kwa familia,” she stated.
Dorcas’s ordination
During the ordainment ceremony on Saturday, Gachagua heaped praise on her wife, describing her as the glue that has held his family together.
“Pastor Dorcas is a blessing to my family; she is the glue that holds our family together; she is the matriarch in our small family, and all our lives revolve around her,” Gachagua added.
Gachagua revealed having been a firsthand witness of Dorcas’ unwavering dedication to the word of God from the earliest days of their meeting.
“I stand with profound joy to honour my wife on this sacred occasion of her ordination. From the earliest days, I have witnessed her unwavering dedication to the word of God,” Gachagua said.
While gushing over his wife, Gachagua confessed how her sermons and commitment to discipleship have led his family and their inner circle.
“Not only in her sermons but also through the life she has led as a committed disciple, teacher, and shepherd within our family and inner community,” he said.
