Details of Gachagua’s meeting with representatives from diaspora

Former Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua re-embarked on a series of consultation meetings on Monday, March 24, 2025.
In a statement, the former DP confirmed his meeting with representatives from the diaspora at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri.
“Earlier today at our Wamunyoro residence, I had a fruitful engagement with representatives from the diaspora. I thanked them for their continued patriotism to our beloved nation and continued assistance to their loved ones, of whom a majority are under economic pressure due to bad leadership and poor policies,” Gachagua’s statement read in part.

What was discussed
According to Gachagua, the meeting provided an avenue for them to evaluate various issues bedevilling the country, ranging from socio-economic to political.
Current problems surrounding the Social Health Authority (SHA) also featured predominantly in their discussion at the Wamunyoro residence.
Gachagua’s statement further revealed that the education reforms and their implementation were among the areas of engagement.
Others included political intolerance, abuse of human rights, and a harsh business environment in the country.

“We discussed socio-economic and political issues affecting Kenyans; more importantly and issues of critical concern include the collapsed healthcare and poorly thought out education reforms, political intolerance and blatant abuse of human rights including extrajudicial killings, abductions and forced disappearances of people and, the brutal business environment and Investment promotion,” Gachagua’s statement read in part.
“We agreed to keep engaging on diverse issues and strongly agitate for change and practical reforms,” it added.
Key of his allies were present during the meeting, including Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa and Embakasi central MP Mejja Donk.

Blocked from speaking in church
Gachagua hosted the leaders at his home after failing to speak at a church service for the second time in a row. In the last two Sundays, Gachagua attended church services in various ACK branches where the leadership barred political leaders from addressing the congregants.
On Sunday, March 23, 2025, he was at church service in Nyeri where Arch Bishop Ole Sapit made it clear that ACK had banned political leaders from the pulpit, including the head of state.4
His presence and that of his allies was only recognized by the church leadership.
