DCI launches manhunt for persons of interest linked to fuel protests’ violence

The agency has circulated images of the persons of interest, appealing to members of the public to assist in their identification and arrest.
Taking it to their X handle on Friday, May 22, 2026, DCI has stated that the persons of interest are linked to a series of serious offences, including robbery with violence, arson, malicious damage to property, and looting. The incidents, the DCI says, destroyed businesses and public infrastructure, while also endangering the safety and lives of innocent members of the public.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is seeking information that may lead to the arrest of the individuals whose images are captured below, believed to have engaged in acts of robbery with violence, robbery, malicious damage to property, arson, looting and other criminal activities witnessed during the recent fuel-related protests in various parts of the country. The suspects were captured while committing criminal acts that not only damaged businesses and public infrastructure but also endangered the lives and safety of innocent members of the public,” DCI stated.

Members of the public who may recognise any of the individuals appearing in the photographs are urged to share information with the nearest police station or anonymously.
The National Police Service (NPS) has reiterated that while the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly, demonstration, picketing, and petition, any criminal acts carried out under the guise of protests will be thoroughly investigated and perpetrators brought to justice.
