Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s graft-related woes at City Hall deepened yesterday after the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) summoned all the top leadership over an alleged irregular procurement of Dandora Stadium.

EACC asked 22 officials, including all serving County Executive Committee Members to appear at the Integrity Centre, the operations nerve centre of EACC today for quizzing over the multi-million-shilling tender that has been a subject of controversy.

Investigations

The director of investigations at the anti-graft body Abdi Mohamud  in a letter addressed to the county secretary on Wednesday, also demanded that they be supplied with personal files of the summoned officers, to enable them “finalise investigations”

Those summoned include, Pauline Kahiga (Finance), Charles Kerich (Lands), Vesca Kagongo (Devolution), Lucia Muli (Education), Mohammed Ahmed (Roads), Allan Igambi (Trade), Hitan Majevdia (Health) and Leboo Morintat, was acting county secretary but was reshuffled last week.

The tender was awarded to M/S Scanjet Construction and according to EACC, they are investigating allegations of corruption in deal that was given during the 2017/2018 financial year.

The tender row is part of the grounds that has been filed in an impeachment motion against Sonko at the County Assembly.

In October last year, the Public Procurement Regulatory authority (PPRA) recommended Sonko’s administration to be investigated.
