Daddy Owen’s Sh6m drive for kids with corrective surgery needs

Award-winning gospel singer Daddy Owen has partnered with Cure Kenya and 12 other celebrities to help 20 children who need corrective surgeries.

The Vanity hitmaker says that through his social initiative, Malaika Tribute Awards, he is committed to change lives for the less privileged in the society.

During this year’s World Disability Day, which is marked annually on December 3, the singer and his initiative partners will see to their promise, inline with this year’s World Disability Day theme, ‘The future is accessible’.

The campaign casts a mixture of celebrities including DJ Mo, comedian Dr. Ofweneke, artistes Moji Shortbabaa, Masterpiece, Ayrosh, Collo and Timeless Noel, radio personality Carol Radull, Maureen Waititu, Wendy Bella, Linda Ndiritu and Jane Kanyi.

The group of 14 has taken on ambitious job to raise about Sh6 million to help fund the surgeries.

They intend to hit the target by selling T-shirts at Sh1,000 and so far, more than 300 pieces have been sold. Well-wishers can buy using the Paybill 622317 Account name Ability Festival and they will deliver free of charge.

The culmination of the campaign will be the Ability Festival at Uhuru Gardens on December 3, which will be headlined by Denno, Moji, Jabidii, DJ Euphoria and Didi, among others.
