Cyrus Jirongo’s business associates clarify source of his vast fortunes

Cyrus Jirongo’s business associate, Fred Amayo, has set the record straight on the source of Jirongo’s expansive assets and wealth.

Amayo, of the late Cyrus Jirongo’s partners, clarified that the late politician’s fortunes came after he entered politics.

Speaking during his requiem mass held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, Amayo, a long-term business partner of the deceased, refuted assertions that Jirongo’s empire came from politics.

Source of Jirongo’s wealth

According to him, Jirongo had already built a vast empire by the time they met and later, when Jirongo decided to enter competitive politics.

“There have been a lot of stories about Jirongo and where he made his wealth from. I would like to put it here today in broad daylight. By the time I met Jirongo before we started YK92, when he was just in his late 20s, he had already built Hazina Estate and was building Kemri Estate. We were on site, in Saika Estate, by the time we were getting into politics,” he disclosed.

He decried that his decision to pursue politics was the genesis of his life’s miseries.

“Getting into politics is what has caused him all his waves right through to his death. Jirongo was already a successful man before he got to politics, and those propagating that he got his money from politics, I know for a fact Jirongo never spent even a shilling of his salary; it went to the people of Lugari,” he added.

On his personal tributes, Amayo said Jirongo remained a humble man despite his wealth and influence.

“Cyrus was a true Kenyan. I was his younger brother to him. He had the best and lived so gracefully,” he said.

Former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia similarly decried Jirongo’s decision to venture into politics.”

“Before joining politics, Jirongo was an astute businessman who made millions from his work. If you ask me, politics destroyed my brother. “He never, never made any money from politics; rather, he lost,” Kisia said.

The late politician will be buried on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at his Lumakanda home in Lugari Constituency.
