CS Yatani’s spouse gets two state jobs

National Treasury Cabinet secretary Ukur Yatani’s wife has been appointed to two state jobs in gazzete notice dated November 15.
Dr Gumato Yatani was appointed to be the chairperson of Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology Council following a gazzete notice by education Cabinet secretary George Magoha dated November 8.
According to the gazette notice, the tenure of Gumato as the chairperson started on November 8 and will continue for a period of three years.
“In exercise of powers conferred by section 36 (1) (a) of the University Act, 2012, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints Gumato Ukur Yatani to be the chairperson of JKUAT council for a period of three years with effect from 8th November 2019,” the notice reads in part.
Gumato was also appointed to be part of a task force formed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives which has been mandated to review and evaluate in comprehensive terms, the weaknesses and shortcomings of Kenya Bureau of Standard (Kebs).
According to the notice, her team will also analyze the ecosystem policy, legal and legislative frameworks of various institutions, and make appropriate recommendations
