By , October 21, 2021

Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe has announced that bars and restaurants will close at 11pm beginning today.

This comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted nationwide curfew.

Bars and restaurants have been operating between 6am and 7pm.

The CS said restaurants and bars closure time maybe further advised by the licensing authorities.

“Handwashing, wearing of face masks and social distancing will be observed. I appeal to all joints to ensure handwashing stations are availed,” he said.

The CS also said Kenya will meet its target to vaccinate 10 million people by the end of the year.

“Later this evening, we will receive 500, 000 Johnson and Johnson vaccine doses. This is a boost for us as we aim to meet our target,” Kagwe said.

Kagwe further asked Kenyans to come out in large numbers to receive the vaccines saying there are enough doses available.

“We will discuss adjustment of vaccination time to allow people to get the vaccine after work,” he said.
