Covid-19: Health Ministry announces 8.3 per cent positivity rate from recent results

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on June 1, 2021 reported that 16 more deaths resulting from Covid-19 were picked in April and May.

Accodring to Kagwe, 1,257 patients were admitted to various health facilities countrywide while another 4,704 patients were under home-based isolation and care.

Kenya’s recovery toll rose to 117,023 after 31,983 patients were discharged from various health facilities countrywide while another 85,040 were released from the home-based isolation and care.

Most of the cases reported were found in Nairobi (80) Kisumu(67), Siaya(37), Mombasa(35), Kilifi(19) , Nyamira (14) and Kericho (14).

In Siaya where President Uhuru Kenyatta toured, 37 cases were from Alego Usonga, Gem (10), Rarieda (6), Bondo (5), Ugenya (1).

Mombasa has 15 cases while Nyali and Mvita reported 16 and 8 cases respectively.

The Covid-19 positivity rate stood at 8.3 per cent as the documented fatality toll stood at 3,188.
