COVID-19: Medics to receive PPEs, insurance cover
By Bernard Gitau, December 3, 2020
Government has directed KEMSA to release personal protective equipment (PPE) worth Sh3 billion to health workers who have threatened to go on strike beginning December 7.
In a press conference convened by Labor Cabinet secretary Simon Chelugui and Health Principal secretary Susan Mochache, the State said the medics will also receive comprehensive insurance cover.
The CS urged unions to suspend the strike and drop any hardlines and give government time to implement their grievances.
Health PS Susan Mochache said government has set aside Sh6.3 billion for NHIF to offer comprehensive cover to all healthcare workers and all civil servants.
