Covid-19: 11 deaths recorded as positivity rate stands at 12.4 per cent

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 503 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,060 tested in the last 24 hours. This represents a positivity rate of 12.4 per cent.
Of the new cases, 472 are Kenyans while 31 are foreigners.
In terms of Gender 253 are females while 251 are males.
The total number of positive cases in the county now stands at 194,310 while the cumulative tests conducted shoots to 2, 068, 760.
On a positive note, CS Kagwe announced 769 cases of recoveries out of which 533 are from home-based Isolation and care while 246 were discharged from various health facilities.
Total recoveries in the country now stand at 183,0980. 146, 836 are from home-based care and isolation while 37,144 were discharged from various hospitals.
Sadly, the CS announced 11 more deaths which were recorded after conducting health facility record audits in the months of April, May and July.
The total number of fatalities now shoots to 3,811.
According to Kagwe, 1,253 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 3,966 are under the home-based isolation and care program.
140 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 35 of whom are on ventilatory support and 78 on supplemental oxygen. 27 patients are under observation.
288 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen out of which 255 are in general wards and 33 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
In terms of vaccination, a total of 1,636,475 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, the total first doses are 1,040,665 while the second doses are 595,810.
The new cases of Covid-19 are distributed in the counties as follow; Nairobi 334, Kilifi 84, Nakuru 21, Kiambu 20, Kajiado 6, Machakos 5, Murang’a 5, Siaya 4, Taita Taveta 4, Garissa, Nyeri, Turkana and Uasin Gishu 3 cases each, Mombasa 2, Bungoma, Homabay, Nyandarua, Kisumu, Kericho and Makueni 1 case each.
