The Health Ministry on Monday confirmed 59 more coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 4797.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangani said they had tested 2,354 samples since Sunday. In total, Kenya has tested 142, 366 samples.

“Today, we have recorded 59 positive cases, from 2,354 samples, tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 4,797 positive cases in the country, and the total number of samples so far tested, is 142,366,” she said.

The CAS also confirmed 73 new recoveries and two fatalities.

“Today, we have discharged 73 more patients from our various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,680. Our gratitude goes to our healthcare workers for this commendable work,” she added.

In the new cases, Nairobi led with 28 of the cases followed by Mombasa with 21. Other counties were as follows;

  • Kilifi, 3
  • Kiambu 3
  • Machakos 2
  • Kisii 1
  • Bungoma 1
  • Uasin Gishu 1

In Nairobi, the cases were distributed as follows;

  • Dagoretti North 7
  • Kibra 5
  • Embakasi East 4
  • Embakasi North 3
  • Westlands 3
  • Embakasi West 2
  • Embakasi Central 2
  • Roysambu 1
  • Makadara 1
