Cohen sister wants justice in late sibling estate case
The late Tob Cohen’s sister Gabriel Hannah Van Straten has told the High Court she wants justice for her late brother as the legal battle for the businessman’s estate continued.
Gabriella made the statement while testifying in a case in which former wife Sarah Wairimu who denied killing Cohen at their Nairobi residence in 2019 is claiming a share of the late Cohen’s property.
“Yes, I want justice before I die because I am 70 years old,” she told trial judge, Justice Mugure Thande.
Led in her evidence-in-chief, by family lawyer Dunstan Omari, Gabrielle told the court Wairimu forced the marriage with her brother, adding Wairimu allegedly threatened Cohen with deportation should he have declined to marry her.
“Sarah had told my brother if he doesn’t accept the marriage, he will be deported,” she said. Gabriella testified Cohen never had children with his first wife a Dutch and never had a child with Wairimu.
