Chief Justice Martha Koome has directed judiciary staff to resume normal working hours after some Covid-19 restriction measures were lifted by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a circular to all judges, magistrates, kadhis, chairs and members of tribunals, CJ Koome said the directive takes effect immediately.

“All courts shall operate from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm unless otherwise authorised by the Chief Justice,” she said in a statement.

CJ Koome, however, advised the staff to observe Covid-19 containment measures.

“Regular sanitation of court premises should be carried out at all times,” she said.

The CJ further commended the Judiciary for adopting to the use of technology at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The commendable strides achieved in the use of technology and tremendous benefit it has had on access to justice cannot be gainsaid, and will therefore still continue to be our mode of operation,” she added.
