By , September 27, 2019

Former radio presenter Ciku Muiruri now blames BBC journalist Ciru Muriuki for taking advantage of confusion around their names.

Ciku has not directly mentioned Ciru, but it was clear whom she was referring to digging from where it all started.

In a long Facebook post, Ciku says that Ciru had an option to choose a different name for her media career but she decided not to.

Where it started

Ciku tweeted about the death of Tob Cohen, mentioning her book. Some users on Twitter accused her of riding on Cohen’s death to promote her book.

Some Twitter users could not however, distinguish between Ciku Muiruri and Ciru Muriuki and directed their anger to Ciru.

Ciru’s reaction

On seeing the anger directed to her by tweeps, the BBC journalist responded clearing out her name.

“I am not @MissCiku. I haven’t written a book. I never hosted a show named Busted. And I haven’t tweeted anything about dogs. Aki please I was just doing my juice cleanse in peace,” tweeted Ciru Muriuki

Ciku’s message to Ciru

Ciku, popularly known for her ‘Busted’ show that used to air in a local radio station, says she started her media career over 20 years ago.

“I did my first radio show in 1998. In my many, many, many, years on radio doing Busted etc I have used my name,” says Ciku.

Ciku the author now tells Ciru the BBC journalist not to ride on her popularity.
