Chebukati congratulates his wife after she’s sworn as CRA chair

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati on Monday, July 17, 2023, penned a sweet congratulatory message to his wife after she was sworn in as the chair of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).

Mary Wanyonyi was sworn in as CRA chair by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

In a statement shared via his official Twitter account, the former IEBC boss commended his wife for her appointment to the position and asked her to abide by the constitution even as she takes over her new role.

“Congratulations Mary on your appointment as Chairperson of the Commission on Revenue Allocation @CRAKenya! Your dedication and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the Mandate of the CRA and prosperity for all Kenyans. Keep your fidelity to the Constitution and the Law. Wishing you great success in this important role,” he wrote.

The position was declared vacant following the retirement of Jane Kiringai who had served the position for six years.

Wanyonyi was selected to head the position by President William Ruto. She was among the three candidates who had qualified for the final selection.

The other candidates were Thomas Ludindi Mwadeghu and Felicity Nkirote Biriri.
