Carpenter arraigned for killing former lover in Moi’s Bridge

A 31-year-old carpenter was yesterday arraigned at an Eldoret court over the killing of his former lover, a college student, two days ago in Moi’s Bridge town, Uasin Gishu county.

Idd Mustafa, who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Menya, was not required to take plea after the prosecution requested for more time to enable the investigators to complete investigations.

The prosecution said police were yet to record statements from key witnesses and process weapons used in the murder of Emmah Wanyotta, a student at  Vera Beauty College-Eldoret.

While opposing the release of the suspect on bond, the prosecution said the move would expose him to greater danger owing to the nature of the criminal offence he is alleged to have committed.

Prosecution also termed the suspect a flight risk and asked court to detain him at the Central Police Station in Eldoret.

Mustafa is expected back in court on October 22 .

“The suspect should be taken to the hospital for treatment and thereafter  be locked at the Central Police Station for 21 days pending for mention of his case,” said Menya after Mustafa said he was unwell.

The suspect is also facing another murder case at the High Court in Kitale over an alleged love affair gone sour.
