A case involving a Canadian missionary charged with a Sh60 million land fraud can proceed, a Nairobi court ruled on Friday.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina pushed the case to Friday to give the parties enough time to prepare for the trial.

Nelson Jason (pictured), who runs a Children’s Home in Ngong, has denied conspiring to defraud Jeremiah Muuya Sailoji and Rhoda Ann Baxter of their land.

He is also accused of wilfully and unlawfully procuring the registration of land parcel NO. Kid Olchoro-Onyore/6827, measuring 6.15 hectares and valued at Sh60 million by pretending that the property was genuinely transferred to him.

Forged form’

It is alleged that he committed the offence jointly with another person not before court on June 4, 2012 at the Ngong’ lands registry in Kajiado County.’

Another count was that with intent to defraud, the missionary forged a transfer-of-land form to Rufus Karima Kalama, the then land registrar in Ngong.

Jason faces a further count of forging an application-for-consent form, purporting it to be a genuine application signed by Sailoji and Baxter, an offence he allegedly committed on or before June 5, 2012 at an unknown place in Kenya.

The accused hs denied the charges and is out on a Sh200,000 bond.
