Calls for probe of private companies

By , December 15, 2021

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei (pictured) has petitioned Parliament to probe private and commercial firms licensed to offer various other services but are now providing legal services to the public.

Cherargei has written to the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights regarding unqualified persons practising as advocates in various private firms.

He wants the committee to prove claims that Leo Investment, Chatur Group of Companies and Skyline Investment Limited, which are registered as marketing firms, are offering legal services contrary to Advocate’s Act.

During the purge on fake gold trade, DCI discovered that some law firms involved in offering services to those involved in the trade were not registered.
