Bunyore Starlets unveil 12 signings, drop similar number
Bunyore Starlets have added 12 new signings to their already unstoppable squad as they seek to seal automatic promotion to the Women’s Premier League at the end of the season.
The FKF Division One League, Zone B, side are unbeaten and on Saturday they resumed the second leg of the season with a convincing 4-0 win with two of their new signings Susan Malda and Sharon Mukara scoring a goal each.
Speaking to People Sport, team manager Zacharia Amakhang’a revealed that the club has dropped 12 inactive players to give room for the new signings.
“The dropped players have never attended our training session even though we had signed them.
On the other hand, our active players were approached by other clubs but none of them left.
They all refused and after making good mid-season signings, two of the new signings scored on their debut and it gives us the morale that our signings were good.
Our major signing was Susan Muhonja Malda from Trans Nzoia Falcons. So we’re hoping to maintain the same run now that we’re still topping the league with 21 points with 22 goals from seven matches and conceding only one goal up to now,” Amakhang’a said.
Apart from the versatile Malda, five defenders including Cynthia Ogado from premier league side SEP Oyugis FC, Dorcas Ayako from Vihiga Leeds, Sharon Shivia from Wiyeta Girls, Jemima Anupi (unattached) and Faith Taabu Wereke from Busia (unattached) were signed.
Unattached Miriam Asiachi has also joined the club as a goalkeeper, while Sheila Akinyi Odhiambo, also unattached, comes in to bolster the midfield.
Multi-talented Sharon Mukara Amayi from Wiyeta Girls and namesake Sharon Omollo from Kakamega Prison Police FC join the team as midfielders-cum-strikers with Grace Igumba and Celestine Mutayi also joining as strikers.
Already, Shirleen Ayitso, Sheila Jogoo (the goalkeeper), new signing Susan Malda Muhonja, and Juliana Kasindi Kaupe have been earmarked for the national team Harambee Starlets’ trials.
