Building Bridges taskforce to receive views countrywide

Members of the Steering Committee on the implementation of the BBI to a United Kenya Taskforce Report are planning to hold consultations across the country to receive consolidated views.
The team’s joint secretaries Martin Kimani and Paul Mwangi said in a statement they will visit all the country’s eight major regions to receive the consolidated views of Kenyans.
In the meantime, the team has encouraged Kenyans through civil society, the private sector and experts to hold fora and rallies where they engage in discussions on the report.
“The steering committee will send members and its trained technical experts to all fora it agrees to attend to explain the contents of the report and respond to the queries raised by participants,” the statement said.
The committee encouraged fora such as those organised by the governors from Nyanza and Western region and urged others to follow suit.
“In that regard, the committee shall send its members and experts to the delegates conferences organised by the governors from Coast region on January 24 and the one in Kitui on February 1 organised by the governors from the region.”
Meanwhile, former minister Musa Sirma, a key ally of Raila and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, said Kenyans should wait for the final report saying that the basis of the Bomas BBI report was to generate more views.
“That is not the final report. The President asked Kenyans to read it and give back their views and that is currently happening…” said the former East African Co-operation minister.
