Boost as initiative to train Tvets instructors unveiled
By Wycliffe Kipsang, October 14, 2022Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are set to reap big following an initiative to improve the competency of their instructors.
The programme, coordinated by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica), seeks to improve the competencies of TVET instructors by conducting capacity-building seminars across the country.
The inaugural seminar bringing together 20 TVET officials was conducted in Kakamega county.
Addressing participants during the seminar, education experts from South Korea led by Prof Kim Duk Ho and Prof Lee Ji Yeon highlighted the importance of competency-based education for young men and women.
They lamented that many graduates, especially from the TVET sector, experience a skills mismatch in the job market.
Prof Lee Ji-Yeon said: “Competency-based education is the best for learners who are still young and will incorporate their growth in education and hence fit in TVET and tertiary curriculum easily.”
