Boniface Mwangi: Not even my death will stop the fight for a better Kenya

By , August 27, 2025

Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has courageously stated that not even his death would stop the clamour for a better country heralded by his announcement of contesting the presidency.

Speaking during the launch of his presidential bid in Ufungamano House on Wednesday, August 25, 2025, the activist, who has been a leading figure of the struggle for constitutionalism and rule of law, affirmed that Kenyans have demonstrated that they have the love and courage to take over from the current crop of politicians hellbent on running the nation down.

He addressed the concerns from his family members upon revealing his plans to contest the presidency.

“When I told my family that I would be running, Nate (one of his family members) cried. He remembers us living in exile and told me, “But Dad, they will kill you,” he recounted.

The activist stated that if he meets his death while fighting for a better Kenya, it would be worth it.

“Even if I die, and I die for a better country, it is worth it. I don’t want to die, but in know very well that even if they kill me, they can never stop this movement. The time for change has come, and there is no price we can’t be bought,” he stated.

He further spoke on the history of the struggle for change in the country, slamming those who had ultimately left the revolutionary struggle and joined the government.

“You might see some people crisscrossing all over; those are heading where they are meant to be. Do not complain or get confused. We are many,” he stated.

“The revolution is here, and no bullets or abductions can stop us,” he charged.

During the event, Mwangi also hit out at the country’s political class and specifically singled out President William Ruto for overseeing widespread corruption and disregard for the rule of law.

Onslaught on president and parliament

“Our political class is the highest paid but can’t keep their hands out of the coffers. Today, 83,300 Kenyans own 99% of this country… Our president treats the Constitution like tissue paper. He flouts the law, disobeys court orders, and undermines the constitution.”
