Plans by Bomet to start the free feeding program for learners in all the early childhood training centers across the county are complete, governor Hillary Barchok has announced.

Barchok said the program targeting children in all the 1,200 centers will be rolled out beginning next week.

A year ago, when the county embarked on an agenda to put up ECD centers, it announced the plan noting that with better learning facilities for children there was also a need to ensure good nutrition as it was essential for their development.

The county in partnership with world vision has already put up a milk processing plant at Chebunyo in Chepalungu as it seeks to add value to the milk products produced from the county.
Bomet has positioned itself as a dairy county due to the quality and quantity of milk produced in the various parts of the county.

Making the disclosure during a meeting at Konoin on Wednesday, Barchok stated that children will receive the free milk daily as part of its wider plans to increase enrolments in the centers.

“We are continuing to build more ECD centers in the county because we value the development of our children and even as we do this we also aim at achieving a maximum number of admissions through this program,” he stated.
