Bodaboda rider dies in gruesome Isinya road crash
By Christine.Musa, April 4, 2022A bodaboda rider died on the spot with his pillion passenger left nursing serious injuries in an accident that occurred in Kisaju area, Isinya on Sunday evening.
The rider, who was heading towards Kitengela town from Isinya, is said to have been overtaking a car before he hit an oncoming saloon car; a head-on collision that threw him to the centre of the road where he met his death when he was knocked down by a hit-and-run car.
According to Isinya traffic records, the accident brings to six the number of passengers who have died on the same spot in a span of two months.
While confirming the accident, Isinya Sub-county police commander Ancient Kaloki warned road users plying the route against careless driving raising concerns over increased accidents in the area.
“The bodaboda rider died on the spot and his pillion passenger who is in a critical condition is admitted at Kajiado Referral Hospital,” Kaloki said.
The police boss also said that in the recent past, speeding among road users has become a menace urging all road users to be cautious.
“The Nairobi-Namanga road has a high number of trucks ferrying goods to and from our neighbouring country of Tanzania. It is very wrong for motorists to assume the road has fewer vehicles. The misconceptions have witnessed speeding and driving in the wrong lane. The menace is worse at night,” he added.
The body of the rider was moved to Kitengela Sub-county hospital morgue for identification.
