Bishop Yego: I am not interested in government job

By , January 27, 2020

Long-serving African Inland Church outgoing presiding Bishop Silas Yego yesterday has declared he is not interested in State jobs in his retirement.

Speaking during the coronation of his successor Bishop Abraham Mulwa at the AIC Milimani, in Nairobi, yesterday, Dr Yego said his religious journey has been marked with great developmental strides in terms of church growth and development projects.

“I am telling my friend (President) Uhuru that I am not looking for a job. I am a missionary I don’t want to be a chairman of anything or appointed in any capacity,” he said,

He, however, welcomed any support for his evangelical mission.

Bishop Mulwa urged the President to consider honouring Yego with a Head of State of Commendation. Yego has served at the AIC helm for 18 years.

During the ceremony, Bishop Paul Kirui was installed as deputy presiding bishop taking over from Mulwa.

The President thanked Yego for his steadfast leadership of the church. “You are handing over a much larger church and a more grounded church, and I am sure the new bishop will take it to greater heights,” said the President and assured that the government will continue working with religious institutions in efforts to create unity.
