National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has advised Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on the best approach to succeed in Kenyan politics.

Addressing a section of Kikuyu elders in Thraka Nithi, the vocal speaker opined that one needs to stay loyal to maintain a name in the Kenyan political scene.

He explained that loyalty is the only currency of value in the political arena. The speaker advised that MCAs and MPs who wish to take up space in the field must stay loyal to the course, to what they stand for, and to their bosses.

‘In life, there is only one currency in politics and that currency is called loyalty. Loyalty to your course, to those who elected you, to your boss, and loyalty to what we stand for. If you have no loyalty there is no other currency in politics,” the speaker said.

“Be loyal, you will go far, nimekua mbunge from 1992, hio si mda mchache, because I appreciate the currency of politics is worth loyalty.”

At the same time, Wetang’ula vouched for Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki as the best replacement for recently impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to the speaker, Kindiki possesses the right virtues to take up the mantle.

He specifically pointed out that Kindiki understands and appreciates the currency of loyalty in politics as his student in politics.

I know mtoto wetu Kithure Kindiki is my student in politics, he understands and appreciates that currency,” he added.

Wetang’ula also heaped praise on Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah for staying loyal and courageously navigating the political scene.

“I salute Ichung’wah for being a courageous young leader in this country.”
