BBI was good, should be revived after polls – party leader says

Green Thinking Action Party (GTAP) party leader Dr. Isaack Kalua now says that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) should be revived after the August 9 polls.
Speaking to farmers in Murang’a, Kalua noted that the initiative will play an important role in uniting the country after the elections.
Defending the initiative, he stated that the BBI was created with the aim of promoting inclusivity for all the regions in the country regardless of where the head of state would come from.
He also highlighted that the adoption and implementation of the BBI was the key solution to all the problems adding that the initiative meant good for the country.
“The supreme court declared BBI unconstitutional but as leaders we need to fight for its revival because it meant good for this country”he said.
Kalua further challenged that the BBI would be very instrumental in the formation of the next government owing to the fact that leaders have formed coalitions to enhance support ahead of the August polls.
“With BBI in place, the coalition partners will be able to run the government because their pacts will be outlined in the document . After the election, the initiative should be re-adopted as soon as possible, ” he remarked.
The party leader also urged Kenyans to only elect leaders who can deliver new developments adding that they should hold leaders accountable for their actions.
“Most of the promises the candidates are making during their campaign trail are unrealistic, it’s high time people learn to scrutinize what they are being told” said Kalua.
“We need to unmask all the lies being told during the campaign and handle things as they are”
While affirming that his party will be focusing on food security, environmental conservation and economic growth, Kalua argued that parties should not be a determining factor during elections reiterating that leaders should be elected depending on their track records.
“All parties are equal and none is bigger than the other regardless of the number of followers, the agenda sets the pace for each party” he added.
