Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has been ranked as the best-performing MP in Nairobi County.

In a survey released by Infotrack, a research and consulting firm, Babu leads by 60 per cent, ahead of his Westlands counterpart Timothy Wanyonyi, who ranks second with 58 per cent. Both MPs were re-elected during the 2022 general elections on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) tickets.

Benjamin Gathiru, alias Mejjadonk, of Embakasi Central is third with 56 per cent, followed closely by Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, who scored 55 per cent.

Joint positions

Tom Kajwang’ of Ruaraka and John ‘KJ’ Kiarie of Dagoretti South have been jointly ranked fifth with 54 per cent, while Embakasi West’s Samuel Mwenje and Ronald Karauri of Kasarani got 52 per cent and were jointly ranked as the seventh-best performers.

Phelix ‘Jalang’o’ Odiwuor of Lang’ata and Beatrice Elachi of Dagoretti North jointly hold the 10th position with a 50 per cent mark.

Infotrack carried out the survey between July and September this year, and it covered all 47 counties, 290 constituencies, and 1450 wards with an overall sample of 58,748.

The firm conducted the first survey between July and August, which involved 36,200 participants, before the second exercise, which involved 22,500 participants.

This survey was conducted to determine how elected members performed within the first year since they assumed their respective offices after the 2022 elections.
