Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today's happenings.
CDF General Francis Ogolla's burial
Departed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla will be buried on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
According to his family, Ogolla had indicated in his will that he should be buried within 72 hours after his death. The burial ceremony will be preceded by a service at his local church in Nduru.
Ogolla tragically lost his life in a chopper crash on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
The general was accompanied by 11 other military personnel; nine who also passed on with him and two survivors when the helicopter crashed in Chesegon, an area between West Pokot and Elgeiyo Marakwet Counties.
The departed military official died while on duty as he was visiting bandit-stricken areas in the North Rift region.
Power interruptions
On Sunday, at least seven counties will partially experience power outages including Nairobi, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kisii, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River.
In Nairobi, the blackout will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the whole of Parklands, Pangani, Ngara, part of Muthaiga, Boulevard, KBC, Longonot Place and adjacent customers.
In Bungoma, the interruption will happen between 8:00 am to 2:00 pm affecting Matisi Water, Matisi Police Offices, Matisi Sub County Offices, Wamangoli Primary School, Lugulu, Madende, Namahindi, Mungatsi and adjacent customers.
In Kisumu, the outage, running from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm will affect Katolo, Oren, Kamunda, Holo, Sare, Sala, Nyakongo and adjacent customers.
In Kisii, there will be power outage in KTRH, Naivas, KPLC Office, Quickmart, Dans Hotel, Waumini Building, Ouru Power, Mocha Building, Kisii Ara Kali Sheds, Embonga Hotel, Le Premier Hotel, Kisii Junction Hotel, Bosongo Hospital, Part of Daraja Mbili Market, Ouru Superstores, Kisii Supaloaf, Kisii KPLC Stores and adjacent customers between 7:30 am and 2:30 pm.
There will also be a power outage in Kilifi Town, Viwandani and adjacent customers between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
In Lamu County, the interruptions will affect the whole of Lamu Island, Mokowe, MOA Village, Nyongoro and adjacent customers between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
In Tana River, the outage will be experienced in Hola Town, Masalani Town, Bura Town, Charidende Market and adjacent customers.
