Former Harambee Stars striker Boniface Ambani has challenged AFC Leopards coaches to step up fast and guide the Football Kenya Federation Premier League club to better results.

Ingwe have been under immeasurable pressure since the season began, given that they have yet to win a single game after three matchdays.

Team's chemistry

While acknowledging the pressure that head coach Tom Juma and his assistant Fred Ambani have, the retired striker said that the technical bench has to first work on the chemistry of the playing unit.

“They are supposed to perform, but at the end of the day, there is team chemistry. The two coaches are still new. They are trying to build the team to see how things will turn out.

“For me, I wish them the best, but they have to step up as early as possible," Ambani told a local TV station.

The Ingwe fans are understood to be restless with the club struggling, and Ambani wants Juma and his staff to fight for positive results in order to avoid the pressure mounting even more.

“I wish Fred and Juma all the best, but they have to speed up because this is AFC Leopards because if they stay for long without results, there will be a problem," explained the former AFC Leopards forward.

Philosophy

Juma was appointed head coach to succeed Patrick Aussems, who left before the campaign began. Juma worked as an assistant to the Belgian, who was in charge for two seasons at the Den.

“Every coach has his own philosophy. Maybe the previous coach implemented a philosophy you do not understand and agree with. You cannot maintain his philosophy, and you have to implement your own.

“However, it will not take a lot of time because, at this stage, the players who are there understand what they should be doing," he added.

Ambani says the current coaching staff at the club will need to implement a playing style that they like.

"It is about the coach telling the players what he wants, setting up standards, setting up time limits, and then from there we go," he concluded.
