Action heats up in Betika National Super League
By Barry Silah, June 16, 2021Kisumu All-Stars FC and Shabana FC seek to continue their good run this afternoon in the Betika National Super League even as they chase promotion to the BetKing Premier League.
All-Stars under Salim Babu travel to Nairobi to meet relegation-threatened Mt Kenya United FC at Camp Toyoyo in what will be a must win match for both teams who are facing different circumstances.
All-Stars in third place after four straight wins, seem to be the form team of the moment and a win would push them even so closer to promotion chase proper.
All-Stars were relegated last season from the premier league after a year in the top tier.
The Lakeside team has nine wins in 22 matches and Coach Babu has implored his charges to take every game as a final.
“We have an important fixture away from home so the plan is to go and get points. If possible collect the whole three points to keep the pace.
I respect Mt Kenya and it is particularly dangerous to play them on their own turf when in such a position so we have to be cautious.
All in all we have prepared well and look forward to a good contest,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shabana who are also former premier league participants have what would appear to be a straight forward contest against Silibwet Leons at Migori Stadium.
Tour Bobe have also been in fine form lately and under new tactician Robert Ojienda have enjoyed a series of good results.
In Four matches, they have collected 10 points off a possible 12 points and are now knocking the door on the promotion battle.
But Ojienda has cautioned against laxity and told his charges to show their fight on the pitch.
In other interesting fixtures, Kenya Police who are second will be seeking to banish their poor run when they face lowly Kisumu Hot Stars FC away at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.
Police have drawn in three consecutive matches cutting their momentum as compared to a solid start at the beginning of the season.
Hot Stars are 16th on the log with 26 points and might pose a tiny challenge to the premiership contenders at home.
Another contest worth anticipating will see top placed FC Talanta on 41 points face off with Machakos based Mully Children’s Family at Ruaraka grounds.
