3 murder suspects to be remanded in Kisii Prison

Three key suspects in the cold-blooded murder of a US-based couple were yesterday arraigned at the Nyamira High Court under tight security.

Peris Ondara, a teacher at Tala Primary School in Machakos County, her brother Dennis Ondara Clement and Peter Njoroge Kirika appeared before Lady Justice Wilfrida Okwany. The three faced two counts of murdering Edward Morema Nyangechi and his wife, Grace Mongina Morema, who had travelled to Nyamira from the US.

Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Joel Kibet Chirchir told the court that in the first count, the three committed the offence on the night of March 20 and 21, 2023 at Egetugi village within Masaba North sub-county jointly with another already in court and others not before court.

In the second count, the three were charged with murdering Grace Mongina Morema on the same date. Justice Okwany directing that the accused persons be detained at the Kisii GK Prison.
