A sixteen year-old girl from Mwa’mokoro village in Kisii committed suicide after she was told to end a love relationship between herself and a bodaboda  operator.

Speaking to the press, area chief Isaac Osoro said the girl killed herself by drinking poison after her mother stumbled into her and her alleged lover identified as Moffat Onyinkwa frolicking in an unfinished building.

The parents suspect their daughter was furious and angered by her parents objection to the relationship prompting her to take her own life. 

Confirming the sad incident, area Chief Obara claimed the diseased’s parents had warned the high school girl against pursuing a relationship with the 21-year-old man.

According to the girl’s parents, so entangled was their daughter in the relationship with the boda boda operator that they filed a case in court against Onyinkwa.

The girl’s body was taken to Tabaka Mission Hospital while her alleged lover is in police custody to assist the officers with investigation into the matter.
