Reactions to ODM nominees joining govt

Reactions continue to pour in concerning the Orange Democratic Movement party’s decision to offer four nominees to President William Ruto’s broad-based government.

While party leader Raila Odinga insists the four nominated ODM leaders were chosen on their own capacities, he says they have to work within the party’s convictions.

Raila said that the opposition has not changed and that if the president needs the services of some of the ODM experts, he has released them but they must work as per the ethics of the party.

Eyes on Olympics games

After a colourful yet controversial opening ceremony in Paris, the Olympics games of 2024 are set to bring back old rivalries, with the Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge readying up to counter his Ethiopian competitor Kenenisa Bekele.

However, Kipchoge is a concerned man, especially after failing to impress in the Tokyo Marathon on March 3. He surprisingly finished 10th in 2:06:50, more than four minutes behind the winner, Benson Kipruto, who clocked 2:02:16, the fastest time recorded this year.

Given how the legendary runner has performed since he launched his career over two decades ago, no one will write him off: he has run four of the 10 fastest times recorded.
