Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro was Tuesday morning released unconditionally by a Murang’a court after he was found to have no case to answer.

Nyoro presented himself to the court accompanied by his lawyer Irung’u Kang’ata and Kandara MP Alice Wahome.

The police had earlier said the legislator was set to be charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and a disrupting church service at Gatui Catholic Church on Sunday.

Church chaos

Chaos broke out in the Kiharu church after Nyoro stormed inside, to assert his authority as the local MP after the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee failed to invite him to their fundraiser.

Nyoro, who is aligned to the team Tanga Tanga, the faction championing for Deputy President William Ruto to ascend to the presidency in 2022, said the convener of the fundraiser should have consulted him first.

The convener, nominated MP Maina Kamanda, is one of the leaders of the Kieleweke group which is opposed to a Ruto presidency.
