City Hall detectives arrested a suspect believed to be extorting money from unsuspecting Kenyans, pretending to be working for the County Public Service Board.

On Monday, the suspect Geoffrey Mandela Kengere was about to defraud a Lamu county medic of Sh80,000 on pretence that he could help her get transferred to Nairobi.

He is currently being held at the Central Police Station as investigations continue.

The detectives are also  investigating if he is part of a syndicate that has been running pseudo social media accounts of Governor Mike Sonko.

Head of Security and Compliance Tito Kilonzi said the suspect had made a fake job transfer letter dated October 29 and demanded Sh80,000 facilitation from the nurse.
